Thank you so much for all the hugs, cards, flowers, and special treats that were sent in last week for teacher appreciation week.  I am so lucky to have such a caring group of students and supportive families.  I appreciate your thoughtfulness so much!


Track Meet

The John Hall Elementary Track meet will now be held next Friday, May 13th, at St. Joseph High School at 11:30.  The meet will last until 2:00. All third, fourth, and fifth grade students will participate in four events.  Third graders do a standing long jump, a 60 M dash, a running long jump, and a 100 M dash.  In addition, each class from all three schools will compete in a 400 M relay race.  Mr. Pfahler has selected four boys and four girls who will represent our classroom by running in this event.  We’d love to have you join us at the track meet if you are able!


In addition, if you are planning to join us at the track meet, is there someone who would be willing to bring a cooler with little water bottles for our class to drink after our events?  It looks like it will be a warmer day, and I’m not sure if drinking fountains will be working.  If you are able, please send me an email.  Thank you so much!! 


Multiplication

We have started our multiplication challenge...ice cream!  Please check in with your child and continue reviewing their multiplication facts, especially 6, 7, 8, and 9s.  The ice cream challenge is very similar to the pizza challenge we did in January, but instead of slices, students will earn ice cream scoops and toppings. :)


Testing Continues this Week!

We are going to adjust our testing schedule this week.  We will begin our last standardized test, the M-Step math test, on Monday and Tuesday.  Please be sure your child’s computer is fully charged the night before.  In addition, please ensure they get plenty of rest and a good breakfast the morning of the test.  Students have as much time as they need to take this test.  Anyone that still needs to complete their test will finish on Thursday. Here are the dates for the remainder of our testing sessions.  Please try to avoid absences or appointments on these days:

Positivity Project Character Strength :   This week’s character strength is Other People Mindset:  Knowing my words and actions affect others.  Everything you do can affect others in a positive way.

  3rd Grade News Week 8 October 25th - October 29th, 2021 Monday, October 25th - Library/Media Center Tuesday, October 26th - Art Wednesday, October 27th - LATE START Thursday, October 28th - Gym Friday, October 29th - Music, Halloween Party 1:30, All School Parade 3:15 Important Dates Late Starts - November 3rd, 10th, 17th ½ Days - November 11th, 12th, and 19th Thanksgiving Break-No School - November 24th-26th   Multiplication Facts And we’re off on our multiplication adventure!  In our last math unit, we began introducing students to using equal groups and arrays to solve multiplication facts.  We are beginning memorization by learning the 0s, 1s, 2s, 5s, and 10s.  We are working on these in class, but many students will benefit from additional practice at home.  Resources to use include:  IXL F Skills, Flashcards, using items at home to make equal groups (for our more visual learners) examples would be: pennies, beads, popsicle sticks, etc...
