Back to School Night

We are excited to be hosting In-Person Back to School Night! Third Grade will be meeting in the media center to start our 3rd grade presentation to all parents, then we will divide into our individual classrooms. We will have sign up sheets available for Mystery Readers, Holiday Parties, and Volunteers for helping in the classroom. We look forward to seeing you from 6pm-6:45pm!

  • Field Trip Donation Link- You can make an online donation, or bring cash on Monday. We ask for $5 a child or $10 a family.

 

Parent Teacher Conferences

We would like to start setting up our fall conferences soon. I will be emailing a link to my SignupGenius later this week so that you can sign up for a virtual or in-person conference. 

 

Homework

We will begin sending home a homework sheet this week. Our focus for homework this year is to have students reading each night on a daily basis. We would like them to read their “Good Fit” book that they bring back and forth to school. This book should be a book that interests them, or is not too easy, but not too hard. We also have options for kids to work on additional math skills and writing. Students should return their homework sheet every Monday, and it needs to be signed by a parent. We will talk about this more at Back to School Night if you have questions. Please look for the first homework sheet to come home on Monday.  

 

Positivity Project Character Strength:  Teamwork

This week we are learning about teamwork. Teamwork is when you work well as a member of a group of team. You are loyal, reliable, and dedicated to helping your team achieve its goals. 


Picture Day

Lincoln's School Picture Day is Thursday, Sept. 23rd.  Re-take day will be Friday, October 22nd.  If your student is absent on Sept. 23rd, we will make sure he/she will get a picture taken on re-take day. All students will have their picture taken even if they are not ordering pictures so that they can be included in the classroom photo.

Order forms went home with students this week.  You may use the order form to order pictures or you may order on-line using the link:  https://prepay.geskusphoto.com/orderSchool.asp. The school name is "Lincoln Elementary School in St. Joseph" and webcode is - 3718MEZIJWYWLR.

 

What we are learning this week!

Math- Scaled graphs and introducing multiplication

Reading- We will continue to learn about our Daily Five Reading Rounds, which include: Read to Self, Read to Someone, Work on Writing, Listen to Reading, Core 5 and Word Work.

Social Studies- 5 Themes of Geography in Michigan

Writing- We will begin our work on writing a personal narrative

  3rd Grade News Week 8 October 25th - October 29th, 2021 Monday, October 25th - Library/Media Center Tuesday, October 26th - Art Wednesday, October 27th - LATE START Thursday, October 28th - Gym Friday, October 29th - Music, Halloween Party 1:30, All School Parade 3:15 Important Dates Late Starts - November 3rd, 10th, 17th ½ Days - November 11th, 12th, and 19th Thanksgiving Break-No School - November 24th-26th   Multiplication Facts And we’re off on our multiplication adventure!  In our last math unit, we began introducing students to using equal groups and arrays to solve multiplication facts.  We are beginning memorization by learning the 0s, 1s, 2s, 5s, and 10s.  We are working on these in class, but many students will benefit from additional practice at home.  Resources to use include:  IXL F Skills, Flashcards, using items at home to make equal groups (for our more visual learners) examples would be: pennies, beads, popsicle sticks, etc...
